Name

Simon Franklin

About

Franklin’s work takes the form of simplified, austere objects that aesthetically echo their reality based counterparts, offering up only the most basic reference points for the viewer to make a judgement on what they are looking at.
The work pays attention specifically to memory, and how both the artist and the viewer remember an object or how they think an object looks, rather than how it actually looks.
Also, through creating clean blank surfaces from paper, the physiological properties of the works become ambiguous, their weight and material values become less clear, only their physical presence is noted.
